Rise On Up : Jai Ganesha

from River of Song by Jim Beckwith

/

about

Shiva is the god of destruction and regeneration, and the witness of all that passes. The end of one thing is the beginning of another, and this image points toward nonattachment as a spiritual ideal. When all things are seen as being equal, a feeling of great compassion for all beings arises. The divine couple of Shiva and Parvati (also known as Girijaa or Shakti) symbolize the union of form and energy, renunciation and fidelity, and victory over the endless cycle of death and rebirth.

lyrics

Gam Ga-na-pa-taye, Namo Namah

Longing for an opening
We're hoping for a doorway open wide
Often we're the obstacle that needs to be removed
from our life.

Isn't it ironic how the problem and solution
are often the same?
Two sides of the same coin
Like light creates a shadow,
No one to blame.

Jai Ganesha, Jai Ganesha
Ganapati Om, Jaya Ganapati Om

Van-it-y, Selfishness, pride
All those little places that we hide
/Sometimes we're afraid like the tiny shrew -
But we can rise on up to elephant size
and show what we can do

Gam Ga-na-pa-taye, Namo Namah
